At NITI Aayog | Strengthening India's Supply Chain Capability

It was an honor and a privilege to be invited to speak at NITI Aayog, India’s premier policy think tank, in New Delhi on “Strengthening India’s Supply Chain Capability for Global Competitiveness and Economic Resilience.”

It was a meaningful and engaging conversation with senior policymakers, industry leaders, and domain experts on building Supply Chain Management as a national imperative.

The discussions covered the entire economic spectrum and focused on what I have been consistently emphasizing that the 21st century is the century of supply chains. In an increasingly interdependent world, supply chains function as the economic nervous system of the national and global economy, and a nation’s strength will be determined by how strong, resilient, and intelligent its supply chains are.

We discussed the need for a national supply chain skills framework, the importance of standardized SCM metrics to measure performance and resilience, and the growing role of AI and data analytics in enabling better planning, faster decision making, and risk anticipation. There was also strong alignment on the need to move beyond linear models toward circular and regenerative supply chains, where sustainability, resilience, and long term value creation go hand in hand.

It was a moment of recognition, a contribution of national significance, and a small step forward in shaping India’s future competitiveness and economic resilience.

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
